Ecological health is a term used to denote the condition of the environment and the factors hampering its optimum state. With respect to water bodies, an ecologically healthy water body is one that is devoid of any pollutants. Due to this, such a body can support the animals and plants within it. Unlike some of the other natural water bodies within Chicago, Three Oaks’ 300-acre South Lake is ecologically healthy. The lake is carefully managed to prevent pollutants such as trash from visitors from polluting it and adversely affecting the health and well-being of animals and plants within the lake (CBS Chicago, 2016). Despite this, the fact that no studies have been done about the lake means that the information presented in this section is based on the data collected from the lake’s website. As such, this data might be affected by bias.
