Review Table 2.1 “Comparisons of dependent and independent demand” in Chapter 2 of the text. Now consider your present organization (or past organization) and identify one of the demands that the organization utilizes. In 200-300 words, describe how your organization uses that demand methodology, and provide an additional demand methodology that you could recommend to your current or former organization.

Demand can either be dependent or independent. Dependent product demand is one that relies on another product in the market. However, an independent demand is a demand for items that are not influenced by the demand for other products. In our organization, we utilize the dependent demand method because we manufacture and distribute computer peripherals. The company forecasts the future demand of the peripherals using trend projection methodology, where the company refers to the historical data to identify the trends that help in projecting demand. That is, they look at previous supply and product demand while accounting for any anomalies to make an educated guess of the market in the future.
