The text is also silent on any existing conflicts or hostilities between the Judaists and the Moabites. Geography of the text was at Moab which at the time was home to the expansive plateau that was between the Dead Sea and the desert on the eastern on both sides of river Gorge (Ruth 1:1-5). Cultures of the time included the levirate marriage customs which allowed a relative of the family to marry a deceased man’s wife in order to enhance continuity of the family. Genealogy of Ruth is described at the end of the text whereby it tries to fix the book of Ruth into the history of Israel and the beginnings of kings.
