Inspiring Leadership Response Paper

BUSN 330 week 2 response 2

I need to respond to what is below in 300-400 word in APA format with citing for my ethics class.

In recent light of events there is some difficulty in believing that any public figures are truthful. However, if I had to choose a public figure in which to believe it would be on activists. On the public figures that believe in change for a better world. In our book, for example, Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King, Jr. The reason that Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King, Jr. were considered to be inspirational and admirable leaders was because of their honesty and forthrightness (Fisher & Martini, pg.25). The way that they both did not waver from what they believe shows commitment. People tend to admire and respect leaders who are honest and have the courage to stand for something. I don’t believe that it is possible to be an effective leader without being forthright.

Forthright, according to the Miriam-Webster dictionary means, free from ambiguity or evasiveness : going straight to the point. To be a leader someone must be truthful and straight to the point without fluff in their words and speeches. As we Christians we see Jesus Christ as the most truthful and honest public figure. He was forthright and did not hold back in speaking the truth. As He said in John 14:6, “… I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” We need to look for and become the type of leader that Christ was. He is the only one that we can truly trust but perhaps we can have a sure bet on a leader that is Christ-ilke.

Activists like Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King Jr. are some of the public figures one can believe in. They are inspirational leaders that can be admired because of their honesty and straight forwardness. People are more attracted to honest leaders and they tend to respect them more for the courage they have to stand for the matters that affect other citizens. No leader can be effective without the character of being forthright ( Seijts, Gandz, Crossan, & Reno,  (2015). To be a leader a person is supposed to possess the character of truthfulness just like Jesus Christ was and he didn’t hold back when it comes to speaking the truth….
