BOOK: Environmental Science: Earth as a Living Planet, 9th Edition
Answer preview
Is the current growth rate of the human population sustainable? Explain, using the concept of carrying capacity.
Carrying capacity regarding human population is the maximum number of people (Botkin & Shepherd, 2014). That given area resources can sustain indefinitely. The current human population rate of growth is not sustainable since we live on finite earth. There are existing physical limits to the planet, and its ability to support life through technology has been used to unleash abundance in areas where there was scarcity.
