- The use of either qualitative or quantitative research approach depends on the objective sought to be achieved. The quantitative research approach is a systematic approach used when the researcher aims to produce comparable, generalizable data. In essence, this kind of research approach is best known when the researcher is interested in systematically comparing data, want to make generalizations to the whole population. It can also be used to test theories with the hypothesis. On the other hand, a qualitative research approach is used when the researcher seeks to produce a “thick” description of a particular case or situation (Creswell & Creswell, 2017). It is best the researcher want to explore a subject he or she is not familiar with, or when they want to find the meanings, motives or patterns that are unseen in standardized approaches.
In essence, if budget allows, I would incorporate both qualitative and quantitative research approaches in the human resources field…
