How has nursing practice evolved over time? Discuss the key leaders and historical events that have influenced the advancement of nursing, nursing education, and nursing roles that are now part of the contemporary nursing profession.

The nursing practice serves as one of the career paths which has changed drastically over time. Initially, nursing was mostly taken by women who learned the medical skills from other women, unlike today where nursing is viewed as a respectable profession which is considered by both men and women. Diversification of staffs has been felt and very extensive training programs are experienced in the current nursing field not forgetting the privileges associated with this field that were not present in early days (Blair & Jansen, 2015). In the recent years, more training programs have been introduced, nurses are given more responsibilities, and better working conditions for nurses have enhanced their focus while attending the patients which in return has helped save many lives and has changed the perspective that many had for the nursing practice.

Initially, people used plants and herbs to treat their illness, men passed the information verbally to generation and health practices were viewed as trial and error practices. Sickness was attributed to evil spirit thus with time religious leaders became healthcare providers…
