Typically, McDonald’s produces menu items in advance of customer orders based on anticipated demand. In contrast, Burger King produces menu items only in response to customer orders. Which system (MRP-II or lean manufacturing) does each company use? What are the relative advantages and disadvantages of each system?

Production methods differ from company to company. It all depends on the policies of the respective business and customer needs. In this paper I will discuss the two policies and their advantages and disadvantages. Turning to the instant case study, it is evident that McDonalds employs the MRP-II method of supply while Burger King uses the Just in time manufacturing, JIT or lean manufacturing.
