Assignment 2:

Write a 1750-word essay addressing each of the following points/questions. Be sure to completely answer the questions for each bullet point. There should be separate sections, one for each bullet below. Separate each section in your paper with a clear heading that allows your professor to know which bullet you are addressing in that section of your paper. Support your ideas with at least three (3) citations in your essay. Make sure to reference the citations using the APA writing style for the essay. The cover page and reference page do not count towards the minimum word amount.

Essay Questions:

  1. Interview a teacher of a preschooler and ascertain how this teacher assesses the mathematical competency of her students and then how the teacher matches developmentally appropriate materials related to the mathematical content which this teacher intends to teach.
  2. How would you encourage a family to become a partner in their four-year-old child’s reading? Provide a list of five developmentally appropriate activities that promote reading in this age group. Describe each activity fully and provide examples.
  3. Locate the “Guided Discovery Activity: Animals on Parade” in your readings and include accommodations and modifications that would help a young child with cognitive disabilities complete the activity successfully. Make sure to describe each accommodation and modification clearly in detail.

A learning environment is the physical emotional and cultural surrounding in which children learn. The learning environment is of great importance to both the learner and the teacher as it affects the reception of instruction by a child. A good learning environment should portray diversity in how children interact with the environment. It should be able to offer engagement, exploration, and comfort to the children. Indoor and outdoor learning environment should offer a variety of settings for different learning opportunities that support different children’s unique needs. Just as the indoor environment, the outdoor learning environment is of importance as it gives the children a break from being indoors and supports learning in a variety of environments.
