Introduction
The sounder is all about the kind of African American context, where a family is depicted as to have no meal for themselves. Measures are put in place to make sure that at least they have something to eat. They have a dog, sounder, which they take out to look for food with, in the night. This, however, goes on for days without getting any food. One morning, however, the family wakes up to the smell of boiling ham, that they eat for close to three days.
