According to Gale (2012), Kenneth Andrews developed the SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, and Threats) Analysis in the early 1970s. Strengths are internal aspects such as resources which support an organization in the achievement of its goals. Examples of strengths in an organization are the availability of resources, skills of employees, and the reputation of the company. Weaknesses are internal factors within an organization that detract it from achieving its goals. Weaknesses are those aspects that a company needs to work on. Opportunities are external factors that a company can use to achieve their goals (Garner, 2015).
