Natural disasters such as floods, earthquakes, cyclones, among others, pose risks to diseases such as Malaria, diarrhea infections, especially in the absence of a pre-surveillance data (Kouadio et al., 2012). There is evidence of harmful conditions, although there are concerns of public health officials and the media overemphasizing them.  However, there is no evidence to support those infectious diseases will occur shortly after a disaster. Public health practitioners often conduct a risk assessment, and in some instances, they don’t fully identify the risks.  For example, Hurricane Katrina in the US was related to disease outbreak, such as gastrointestinal illness caused by contaminated water in the affected areas.
