This unit introduces three religious-based reform movements: Protestantism in mainland Europe, Protestantism in England, and the Catholic Counter-Reformation, as well as the subsequent violence they caused. Choose one of these movements and discuss the influence of political, spiritual, or cultural aspects of the movement as well as any subsequent strife (warfare and other forms of violence). To support your judgment, your answer should highlight at least one specific reformer, region, cultural development, and form of violence.

The onset of the Reformation was due to King Henry VIII’s desire for a male heir. Therefore, the only solution was to end his marriage with Catherine of Aragon and remarry to look for a male heir. Catherine of Aragon had been unsuccessful in bearing kids for the king. Only Mary survived. However, The then pope Clement VII failed to annul the king’s marriage to enable him to remarry. As a result, the King got furious and declared that he was the supreme authority in all matters concerning the English Church. Consequently, he dissolved all the monasteries to confiscate their property…
