One of the overarching goals of this class is to create caring communities. We have talked extensively this week about stereotypes and social cognitions regarding aging. For this DB I’d like to have you take some time to reflect on how stereotypes impact not only the person or group they are directed at (stereotype threat), but the person that thinks or says them. Search for a research article on this topic and report back on its findings. Feel free to include a cultural aspect to it if you’d like to explore a different culture. Additionally, discuss how you can change your own thoughts and actions as well as the thoughts and actions of those around you on this topic. Remember, change starts with one person. Are you brave enough to create change?
