Nurses are vital components of any health care system, primarily due to the extended periods they spend with patients. Even though physicians are tasked with making diagnostic and treatment decisions, they only spend close to thirty to forty-five minutes every day interacting with patients, even the critically ill (Shin et al., 2018). This aspect means that they are not present to notice any alterations in a patient’s condition or situation. On the other hand, nurses spend considerable periods at patients’ bedsides and interact quite often with other health care team members and patients’ family members (Shin et al., 2018).
