The artworks that I choose for this discussion are Roy Lichtenstein framed print “Girl in Mirror” and Ana Mendieta “Untitled.” Both artists used imagery from media and popular culture and modern technology. Girl in Mirror is one of the artworks that led to the success of Roy Lichtenstein in the 1960s. The artwork shows an efficient immaculate graphic. In the art, Lichtenstein uses an American model of consumerism bringing in the aspect of popular culture. The girls that Lichtenstein uses are an imagination that only existed in his realm. The blonde American beauty is portrayed as the ideal woman. The woman is the art showing quite of emotions. With such an image Lichtenstein is able to share the corns of the day. Modern technology presents itself in the work when he is able to isolate the woman from the rest of the comic. This is an example of an industrial process which leads to fast color printing which was not expensive. Throughout the generation, this art has been modified (Corbett and Perry, 2000).(359words)
