Each of us has certain ways to celebrate holidays, such as Thanksgiving.  Among these celebrations, food often plays a prominent role.

1.      Identify the holiday that you have chosen to describe in Journal #5 by name and define its origin, including the length of time you have been observing it and why you have chosen it for this journal. (10 points)

2.      Describe how you celebrate this holiday, making sure to include traditional food and beverages served, who participates and what time of year this holiday is observed.  Please include any details you feel important. (15  points)

The holiday that I chose to describe is that of my grandfather’s anniversary. He was a great man who had leadership characteristic and was respected by society members. He died at the age of 128 years which we also consider as a great achievement. Maybe it is a sign that even God was pleased by how he lived and added more years to his life. The holiday started in the year 2009 when we rested his body at the place he had wished.  During his burial, people realized the presence of so many strangers. The strangers were given time to express themselves through short speeches. Everyone was astonished by what the strangers said. They were all descendants of my great-grandfather. There were mixed emotions, it was a family reunited. People were saddened by the demise of our grandpa, but there in front of them stood a multitude of people who their kinship bond was his blood. For once a burial brought happiness.(630words)
