Answer previewAssimilation is the process by which minority groups from different cultural backgrounds join a majority group in society hence adopting their values, behaviors, and beliefs fully or partially. Assimilation can be constrained or purposeful. However, minority bunches occasionally supplant past friendly practices (Hirschberg 152). America is referred to as a melting pot because it is filled with people from different cultures and ethnicities who adopted their beliefs and behaviors. The assimilation policy has many different aspects and can be characterized as natural and logical in modern society. The increased migration of people leads to the growth of the country’s population, and the mixing of cultures, forming the so-called “melting pot.” Such a policy has some advantages but, at the same time, is presented as having certain difficulties. The process of cultural assimilation, if possible, if both sides are positively inclined to merge and do not contradict each other.
