H1N1 flu, commonly referred to as the swine flu, is a disease that originates from pigs, and it affects the respiratory system of both pigs and human beings (Wiley, 2020). The infection is caused by a strain of influenza virus called the swine-origin influenza virus (S-OIV) or the Swine influenza virus (SIV) (Wiley, 2020). This type of virus is common in pigs worldwide which accounts for the name swine. Scientific research indicates that the infection has two main strains: influenza A (H1N1) and influenza C (Vousden & Knight, 2020). In most instances, this virus is rarely transmitted from the pigs to a human host. When the virus infects a human host, there are very minimal chances that a human being will contract flu. In most instances, the human body produces antibodies that fight the virus. The antibodies that the human being produces come from prior exposure to the Spanish flu vaccine (Vousden & Knight, 2020). These two viruses have almost similar traits, making the body capable of producing similar antibodies that fight the system’s invasion. However, individuals who regularly interact with pigs have higher chances of contracting swine flu
