Locke claims that the mind is furnished with experiences and our observations are by either external sensible objects or internal operations of our mind that we perceive. He believes that thinking and perceiving are all the primary work of the mind. Berkeley agrees with Locke that there are physical substances and their features such as color, figure and extension. “Philonous: And what do you see beside colour, figure and extension? Hylas: I acknowledge, Philonous, that upon a fair observation of what passes in my mind, I can discover nothing else……….” They both agree on the primary qualities are the features to these physical substances. Berkeley also agrees with Locke to be immaterialists.
