– From an organizational ethics perspective, what does the phrase “Tone at the top” mean to you? Why do you think this reference has so much meaning in any organization?

My understanding of the phrase “tone at the top” is a way of how management leadership commits towards the attainment of honesty, integrity, openness and ethical behavior. If the management sets a tone that upholds integrity, morality and ethics, the subordinates or the other employees are more likely to enforce these values (Shin, Sung, Choi & Kim, 2015). Having a proper tone starts with the managers of every department leading by example, and observing integrity and ethics. The management through their actions they should demonstrate ethical behavior (Ferrell & Fraedrich, 2015). The administration has the role of clearly communicating the organization ethics and values in every area that they manage. These ethics or values can be transmitted through written codes of conduct, staff meetings, memos or any other formal way of communicating. On the other hand, they can communicate informally during their day to day routine operations.(379words)
