Answer previewBrief introduction of Activity Based Costing
The activity-based costing (ABC) is a costing technique that allocates the overhead costs precisely on the activity other than the product. For instance, the method assigns the costs to activities in a manufacturing process to show the significance of each activity. The ABC costing technique has enabled firms to identify the real costs hence making sound decisions on profitability.[1]ABC enhances establishing effectiveness in the manufacturing and business process. The technique has important application in the large firms allowing them to maintain a highly competitive advantage in the marketplace. The ABC technique will thus identify the activities involved in the production of a product and then assigns each product a cost that is the total of the activity costs of producing it.
The technique has relevance as a management tool. Several developments have occurred in the technique such as the time aspect to improve its accuracy in management[2]. The technique has improved the effectiveness and reliability[1] Foroughi, A., M. Kocakulah, A. Stott, and L.
