Answer previewSeveral issues arise while animals are used for research purposes. However, the argument about ethics in using animals for research is always based on whether the experiments are morally right or wrong. The ethical approach used in conducting such experimental procedures is of importance rather than the morality of the experimenter. Although the use animals in research jeopardize the life of the animals involved, thorough regulations should always be put in place to ensure that they such experimental procedures are carried out humanely. Researchers are therefore urged to follow specific standard principles represented by ‘the three Rs’ (Festing, & Wilkinson, 2007). The first R stands for replacing. By this, the researcher is expected to replace, where possible, experiments that use animals with other techniques like cell culturing rather than using animals. The second R denotes Reduce. By this, it means that the researcher needs to use few animals in experimental procedures. This is possible by use of improved research techniques and collaborating with other scientists so that similar experiments are not carried elsewhere[1200 Words]
