Answer preview

Employees’ performance appraisal is a crucial process that regularly reviews the employees’ job performance and their overall contributions to a company or an organization. Employees’ skills growth and achievements are evaluated during performance appraisal and compared with their potentials for a better job (Farndale & Kelliher, 2013). The most challenging part that appraisers face in determining the dimensions to be appraised is ensuring that the dimensions are consistent with each employee’s job description and ensure that diversity is also addressed. Each employee has his or her roles and responsibilities in an organization which should be appraised according to their job descriptions, goals, performance outcome, or bonus criteria agreed on.  Most appraisal forms are usually addressed to a large and non-homogeneous group of employees, forgetting that each employee is unique and should be appraised individually but not as a group. Ensuring that the dimensions to be appraised address and consider employees’ diversity and are adequately connected to the employees’ job descriptions is one of the biggest challenges for managers and appraisers in an organization (Schmidt, 2018
