The death of Sardanapalus is a painting by Eugene Delacroix and appears on page 75 of the text. The painting depicts Sardanapalus the king of the second Assyrian dynasty on a bed beside him a scene of chaos of guardians killing servants, concubines, a horse in the monarchy. The art represents an inspiration of the Lord Bryon’s dramatic poem of 1821. King Sardanapalus decides to kill himself when he established that the palace was besieged. Before suicide, Sardanapalus ordered all his properties including wives and horses to be destroyed. He decided that no object of his pleasure would outlive him…
