Assessment/Interview
Select a community of interest. It is important that the community selected be one in which a Student currently resides. Students residing in the chosen community should be assigned to perform the physical assessment of the community. ( In my case will be Hispanic ).
- Perform a direct assessment of a community of interest using the “Functional Health Patterns Community Assessment Guide.“
- Interview a community health and public health provider regarding that person’s role and experiences within the community.
Interview Guidelines
Interviews can take place in-person, by phone. Complete the “Provider Interview Acknowledgement Form” .
Develop one set of interview questions to gather information about the role of the provider in the community and the health issues faced by the chosen community.

Student: Good afternoon doctor. How is your day?
Doctor: Good afternoon to you. My day is beautiful and I am happy to be involved in this interview.
Student: Let us go straight to the point. What is your role in the community?
Doctor: My role in the community is one of a medical advisor and helper. I would say that I advise people on how they can handle different medical issues in the area and their families. I do this through diagnosing the patients and then telling them what is best for them. I am also a helper as I help in the treatment of people. I assist with emergency services and also offer my assistance to people that need constant checkups. The primary role is to provide medical services to the people in this population.
