Believe Something to Be True
Discussion: Why should you believe something to be true?
We all believe many, many things to be ‘true.’ Why? What is the evidence that we employ when we conclude that:
- ‘The biggest threat facing our nation is illegal immigration.’ Or,
- ‘A Lean Six Sigma program will improve our R&D performance.’ Or,
- ‘Only sales people with 10% annual growth should get bonuses.’
Here is a typical business-related statement: ‘Off-shore manufacturing is less expensive than domestic manufacturing.’ More important than whether you believe this statement to be ‘true’ or ‘false’ are the reasons ‘why’ you believe it to be true or false. For this discussion answer the following two questions:
