The story of Hero and Leander is informative, and despite being tragic, it shows how chemical reactions connect people, whether alive or dead. As the tale informs, Hero did not allow the restrictions of not meeting with a man to prevent her from establishing a deep connection with a man she adored. At first sight, Hero gets attracted to Leander and later falls for her love. The soft-spoken trait and devotion are elements that made Hero get attracted to Leander. Although the butterfly reaction is not evident, I acknowledge that Hero’s heart skipped a beat at first sight. While aligning this human behavior with the chemistry of love, the released dopamine, norepinephrine, and oxytocin helped Hero and Leander connect. Notably, I believe the release of dopamine and norepinephrine is healthy because it portrays the natural reactions that influence the body’s behavior, such as butterfly jitters, anxiety, and sweaty palms.
