Case Analysis
Initial Post: This story was quite interesting because Fabians Disability is quite the same as my clients that I currently work with. His disability was a challenge for him because he struggled to find work so he decided to open his own business to help with his financial situation. Once he began making progress in his community to help alleviate some stress off his plate, he then began once again having problems with the community because of his active business and all the traffic that was coming and going and that seemed to bother the community, leaving Fabian feeling agitated. What I found wrong was he did all that was supposed to, to open his business legally but his community made him feel like he did wrong because of his active business.
The perspective was the community making Fabian feel like he was not wanted, therefore they continued to complain. The community could have helped Fabian with his business to build a stronger community together and that would have made it work a lot better I think. Fabian could have made his business a little farther from his home as well to help the traffic from getting so busy. I understand Fabian wanted to make a living but he was as well at fault for his problems too because I did get the feeling that he was not caring what the community felt and only cared for his needs.

Instructor: Hi everyone Christina provided a compelling overview of Fabian’s case and the community reactions. Although Fabian suffers from a psychological condition, the rules within the community were developed for compliance despite individual limitations. Sometimes we must take a holistic view of concepts rather than allowing personal issues to interrupt legalities (Alfie, 2006). The neighbors intentionally moved to an area with specific limitations. To ignore the neighbors needs and paid accommodations would be unfair; specifically considering the amount of funds paid to live in the area. Everyone what are your thoughts on the importance of holding firm to established policies?

The existence of policies is so as to maintain the existing status quo. Policies are created to benefit the public at large as opposed to benefitting a certain group of people. Therefore, the existing policies need to be followed to the letter. However, times are changing at a fast rate…
