Answer preview

Despite the fact that close to two decades have passed since American Airlines Flight 587 went down at Belle Harbor in Queens, New York, many people still remember this accident. This is because most Americans see it as the second deadliest plane crash in the country’s history, second only to the September 11 terrorist attack (Bella & Fearnow, 2011). On November 12, 2001, at approximately 09:16 eastern standard time, American Airlines Flight 587 went down at Belle Harbor in Queens, New York. The Airbus Industrie A300-605R, N14053, crashed at a residential area a few moments after taking off from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York. The plane was on its regular passenger trip to Las Americas International Airport in the Dominican Republic (Bella & Fearnow, 2011).
