Mitch Albom’s book “Tuesday’s With Morrie” is a memoir that explains the interactions of human being’s experience between the two aspects of living and dying. From this book, I think one can learn important insights, which can help someone change or improve how they observe life. The most interesting thing about the book is how the characters approach the aspect of love. For example, Morrie explains that being competent about giving out love and letting it come into your life are the most important things humans should strive for (Albom, n.d.). This explanation resonates with me because I believe that love requires mutual commitment. That is, a person cannot receive love if they are not ready to give it out. One of my friends told me that he divorced his wife because he believed that she never loved him. Using Morrie’s idea about love, I now understand why my friend had to apply for a divorce. Morrie explains that quality life begins with the act of giving and receiving love. If I apply this concept to our day to day life, I think people should be ready to exchange love to have happy families instead of expecting it without giving it out.
