Small businesses require extensive expansion to have significant share of the market. To make this achievement, there is a need to have the right talents on board. Salaries and Wages in small business can hardly match those paid in the larger enterprises that manage more than 50 employees. Having proper benefits disbursement strategy can increase the commitment of employees in these businesses irrespective of the relatively lower wages and salaries. To pull the right talents and sustain them is more critical for a small business than would be for an expanded one. The benefits are a value rather than a payment made to the employee for their contribution. The paper involves a discussion of the basis for the provision of benefits to employees in small business and the most common benefits that would help maintain talents (Hui Alden, 2018 April 18). There is no compensation plan defined to have the most significant benefit of attracting and keeping talents (NSBA, 2015). The small business needs to have a cost-sensitive approach to benefits then customize the structure to have the maximum perceived value to the employee.

A Small business with less than 50 employees is not required by law to offer employees’ benefits such as health benefits as defined by the affordable care Act (ACA).  The consideration is that although not mandatory it is relevant.  A small business requires having a pool of talents to compete with the large enterprise in any aspect.
