Concept of business ethics

Choose an International or multinational company (example: NIKE, Nestles, Wal-Mart, BP, Siemens, etc.) that was accused of unethical practices and write 5 pages of TEXT on what led up to the accusation and recommendations to the company. You may go over a few lines but not under. Plus the cover page or references.

Introduction: Ethics in business is critical for trust, however, there are many grey areas of what is, and is not, ethical. The business world has always relied heavily on contractual agreements while conducting business. These contracts while written in ink are set in stone. Many multinationals have been charged with unethical behaviors.

Answer preview

The major criticism Nestle dealt with stemmed from the fact that they continued with their misleading marketing campaign knowing full well that the message they were sending out was wrong. The net effect of the campaign was that more and more mothers began taking up bottle feeding rather than breastfeeding (Guasti, 2012). The problem with this is that the company, while marketing the baby formula, never advised them on how to properly and safely use the product. As such, many mothers, due to their underlying economic and social circumstances, ended up misusing the product. Due to the high poverty levels in developing countries, most mothers would over dilute the baby formula to not only serve as many infants as possible but to also last longer (Guasti, 2012). Besides this, they also used contaminated water to dilute the baby formula.
