Answer preview
Poverty is a pressing concern for Margaret because she feels overwhelmed. Covid-19 pressures compound her fears on the real risk of failing to fulfill her responsibilities. This is more significant in helping her assist her father, who is in a local assisted living program and needs help to supplement food stamps.
A social worker could help to advocate for Margaret’s social justice issues by linking Margaret with organizations that take care of elderly persons and have measures to alleviate food insecurity. This intervention would relieve Margaret of the mounting pressure to take care of her father’s medical and food needs amidst tough times that are almost overwhelming her. Secondly, a social worker could also help Margaret take care of David, who has special needs due to Down’s syndrome. Such an intervention will provide access to people with more specialized knowledge of Down’s syndrome to help David across different stages of life, considering that he is just entering puberty.
