In the United States nurses are expected to provide culturally competent care to their clients, especially when the patients are the elderly. This is because they are more attached and linked and attached to their beliefs and cultural practices. Therefore, this will automatically influence the attitudes that nurses will have towards health care and illnesses. However, in order to deliver culturally appropriate care to the elderly, the availability and affordability of healthcare resources must be met (Andrews and Boyle, 2018). Hence, the government has to provide sufficient funds and resources to all cultural groups on national or local levels. Unfortunately, for the minority groups in the U.S such as the Cambodian refugees who are elderly today, their health plans are poor due to ineffective and lack of government involvement.
