Statesmanship is the ability to lead skillfully and manage public affairs with moral excellence (Overeem, & Bakker, 2016). Statesmanship clearly defines itself when there is a political crisis in a country although it can also be conceived when there is tranquility. Three important respects constitute statesmanship. These are the aim, scope, and means. These three shapes the art of statesmanship.
A statesman qualifies to be a leader and statesmanship is exhibited by leaders who embrace compromise. Statesmanship and leadership are both exercised at polity level, and both can make decisions on behalf of their followers. Both statesmanship and leadership are meant to guide the followers for the good of all.
