Describe a model in text

You will be assigned another student’s model to describe in text. Your

description (ekphrasis) can be in prose or poetry form.

Your ekphrasis should include:

a detailed description of the experience of being in the garden,

interpretation(s) of the garden that references historic precedents and/

or contemporary design examples, with one image per referenced

precedent landscape, and

at least one photo of the model you are describing (taken by the model

builder and provided to you)

Format

Length: 600-800 words (not including footnotes/endnotes, references,

and image captions)

Margins and spacing: 1” margins on all sides, double-spaced

Font: Times New Roman, 11 pt.

You will be assessed on the quality of your writing and the clarity of your

description and interpretation.

The predominant impression I brought away from Muhammed’s garden created an atmosphere piled with inner peace and self-love. Seeing the yellow and red leafed trees always reminded me of the beauty of being happy and staying joyful. The paths between the trees allowed me to wander through the broken light and enjoy the breeze which created a musical feel as the wind brushed through the leaves. My visit at the garden made me feel that I had acquired the freedom of losing myself where no one would one would have questioned how I walked and hugged the trees as if I had found a lost friend.

I had a relaxed feeling while in the garden not worrying about the events in my life. The beautiful trees further created the impression that life has to be adventurous. The different textures of the leaves and trunks were just amazing. Also, the sky opening above appeared so bright and this made my experience more spiritual. The light…
