In this Discussion Board, you will work with problem solving.

1. First review the material on problem solving in the text.
Next, go to http://www.engin.umich.edu/~problemsolving/ and read about problem solving.
Third, go to http://www.greylabyrinth.com/puzzles/puzzle.php?puzzle_id=puzzle151 and try to solve this problem.

Post your solution here (Please do NOT check the solution first). Tell us how you tried to solve the problem, and what method might have been more successful. Be sure to refer back to the information in the textbook.

Post your solution here (Again, do not check the solution. Use your own good thinking).

REMEMBER: The methodology is more important than the solution.

*Use depth of explanation. Please write clearly and logically. Be sure to cite your sources. Cite/write/type them in APA style at the end of your work.

The Christmas confusion is a complex situation that one may equate to a puzzle. The primary step in problem-solving is to create a mechanism that allows the assessor to tabulate the information to ensure that comparison is a relatively more straightforward exercise. Observation is the primary tool for resolving tasks that require critical thinking (Belecina & Ocampo Jr, 2018). In this instance, the main clue in determining this puzzle is that each family member only gave out one gift to each other member. The second facet is that one family member is always right, the other is right three-quarters of the time, the third one is correct only 50% of the time, while the fourth person is correct a quarter of the time only. Considering that Chester is the youngest member of the family, the immediate step is to scrutinize his statements keenly because it is highly probable that he is lying. An evaluation of the comments he gives reveals that he claims to have given five gifts. However, this is impossible considering that each individual gave out just one, as highlighted earlier.
