Answer preview

Not all nurses begin their career with the thought of becoming a leader. However, strong leadership is critical when the aim is to show transformation in the vision of health care. Nurses should produce leaders who can be accountable for their contributions in delivering quality patients care. One of the formal roles is a nurse manager responsible for the workplace’s day-to-day operations, including hiring, staff development and evaluation, management and resource allocation, patient safety, and financial accountability, among others (Nelson III, 2017). Other responsibilities include providing guidance and inspiration to nurses and supervising and influencing nurses’ professional practices. Nurse managers are typically advanced nurse practice registered nurses who must have a Bachelors’s degree of science in nursing (BSN) and a registered nurse license, including three years of experience in the nursing field, depending on the state.
