Based on the prevalence of domestic violence, I think society needs to change. The social structure is designed in a manner that men uphold higher social power than women. Hence, men are likely to exercise this kind of power over women through abusive behaviors. That is why many victims are women. For example, 1 out of 4 women have encountered intimate physical violence, but only 1 out of 9 men encounter such violence (ncadv.org, 2020). Therefore, our society should uphold gender equality to avoid this kind of gender inequality.
