Answer preview

The Sherpa culture is based on equality. The Sherpas people believe in fairness when treating people regardless of their social status. According to Frydenlund (2019), within 2016 and 2018, the Sherpa people complained about discrimination because they were not given certificates that foreign mountain climbers receive to confirming they have reached the top of the mountain. In the same period, the Sherpa people complained that foreign companies benefit a lot from the mountain activities at their expense. The Sherpa people working with foreign companies are assigned risky jobs and paid relatively low than what average Nepalis earns. The Sherpas people are given jobs like carrying gears up the mountain, fixing ladders, guiding, and other non-clerical tasks by foreign touring companies (Frydenlund, 2019).  This escalated tensions between Sherpas and the foreign executives, which was resolved by equalization policies that sought fair compensation to Sherpas mountaineers working with foreign workers in the Mount Everest area.
