Abstract

According to Congressional Board office, (September 29, 2016), a preferential trade agreement is the treaties which eliminates barriers of Trade or set commercial policies between two nations or a group of countries.  Ideally, a preferential trade agreement has both positive and negative effects on a country economy.  Up to 2018, the United States had established up to 14 preferential trade agreement with its trading partners.  The preferential trade agreements result in the movement of labor, inputs, economic information across borders of the trading partners. PTA has an impact on the United States economy in various ways.  It results in an increase in productivity in the country. The domestic companies will increase their output to satisfy the demand in foreign countries. However, it results in loss of revenues for the country as most of the United States firms will move to other countries. Also, it increases competition in domestic firms….
