Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Affirmative Action (AA) are not required in today’s evolved organizational climate. EEO and AA enforce quotas on organizations that must be met during the hiring process, thus requiring them to hire unqualified people. Evaluate this statement. Do you agree or disagree? Explain.

Answer preview

I can’t entirely agree with the statement that Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Affirmative Action (AA) are no longer relevant in evolved contemporary organizational culture. Although the current organizational climate appears not to apply EEO and AA’s policies, eliminating them from companies’ human resource aspects will lead to a regression in progress achieved. Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) refers to an agency that governs workers’ discrimination based on civil rights. Affirmative Action (AA) requires corporations to recruit qualified persons mainly belonging to the minor groups. The AA achieves diversity in the workplace compared to the EEO. This policy requires that over time the workforce of a business should reflect the minority groups based on the existing labor pool’s identity. For example, in a hiring process, if 80% of the applicants in the police force belong to a minority group such as Hispanic, in a Hispanic populated area, then the workforce should mainly contribute to this group (Chowdhury et al. 2020).
