Introduction
In his book Between the World and Me, Ta-Nehisi Coates offers an intriguing perspective on different aspects of race relationships in America today. However, he is only one, and admittedly very subjective, voice in the conversation. You will analyze different perspectives which either support or refute one specific claim Coates makes in BTWAM.

What Makes this Project Good?
A synthesis paper means that you are analyzing a conversation that is already in progress—your sources provide information that supports or refutes Coates’s claims. Make sure that you clearly identify what the thesis of your sources is. Also, take some time to make sure your sources are credible.
Project 3 Criteria: What I’m Looking For
You:
Select a single claim from BTWAM to analyze.
One of the 4 further sources must be the Mayor’s Gang Taskforce.
No arguments from faith please.
Develop an analysis with details and other support.
Maintain a neutral stance, your opinion should stay out of this paper.
Use conventions of an essay (paragraph development, thorough introduction, etc).
Provide reasoned responses by other writers situated in the writer’s experience.
Identify clearly the racial, ethnic, gender, age, and/or socio-economic differences
(among others) that informs the writer’s response.
Demonstrate why you think your sources are credible in your cover letter.
