The population of people living in low-income communities and in rural areas is the most affected by the food inequality problem. The majority of people living in these areas are the minority communities in the U.S., such as the Blacks, Hispanics, and Native communities. Access to grocery stores, supermarkets, and other food retailers that provide a wide large of food products essential for a nutritious diet is a major problem among the people living in these communities. The communities have been referred to as food deserts because they heavily rely on convenience
