Answer preview

The First World War had several long-term effects on different nations. WWI led to the collapse of four monarchies through the Russian Revolution, the collapse of the German Empire and Hapsburg monarchy, and political restructuring in Europe (Pennell, 2018). Secondly, the war eventually led to the starting of the second world war because the treaty of Versailles made after the war was very harsh towards Germany, which was losing. As a result, from Germany came the rising of Hitler’s regime, which was committed to cleaning the ‘stain of Versailles. In conclusion, nationalism and imperialism are some causes of WWI, which took longer than expected because of the war of attrition and the Schlieffen plan’s failure.
