The GERD disorder mostly affects the lining of the esophagus by causing severe irritation due to the acid reflux which flows back to the esophagus. The most common signs and symptoms for GERD include the heartburn which happens after eating, but not everyone can experience, acid taste in the mouth and regurgitation of food or sour liquid which is often the symptoms for the acid reflux (Orlando, 2016). The patient may also experience some chest pains and has difficulty while swallowing food. Also, those patients who may experience nighttime acid reflux may exhibit symptoms such as disrupted nights of sleep, asthma or a chronic cough causing discomfort and pain to the patient. ..
