Gnosticism might have been so popular
In this module, we learned about the Gnostics, a dualist group that sought spiritual goodness and gnosis to achieve fulfillment. These individuals believed that some secrets in Christianity were kept only for the elect who were ready for such inspiration. Some of these included works such as the Gospel of Mary, which states that Mary Magdalene was taught divine secrets from Jesus before his death.
