    Answer preview

Presbycusis is a sensorineural hearing disability Commonly caused by changes in the inner ear. The health challenge is caused by daily exposure to construction work sounds and equipment or loud music. Signs and symptoms related to the disease include other people’s speeches appear slurred or mumbled, challenges hearing pitched sounds, and hearing men’s voices easier than women’s. Additionally, when a person has symptoms related to hearing disorders, it is recommendable to see a healthcare provider for a diagnosis (Wang & Puel, 2020). During the procedure, the doctor will carry out a physical exam to rule out other possible causes of the disorders. Besides, the doctor uses an otoscope to look inside the ears. The otoscope is used to assess the eardrum of any blockage or impacted ear wax infection and inflammation. If the symptoms persist, one is referred to a hearing specialist called an audiologist to carry an audiogram. An audiogram test is where sounds are played through headphones to one ear at a time.
