Patients who experience heart failure require lifelong management. However, heart failure symptoms and signs can be treated to restore the strength of the heart. In most cases, the treatment process starts by treating underlying causes. Medications issued to heart failure patients are prescribed depending on the symptoms and heart failure type (Aggarwal et al., 2018). For instance, Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors are an issue to treat systolic heart failure. Apart from medications, treatment may require the patient to undergo surgery, such as coronary bypass surgery and heart valve replacement or repair. Medical devices like Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillators (ICDs) and Ventricular Assist Devices (VADs) can also be used to assist the heart failure patients’ heart pumping blood as required (Aggarwal et al., 2018).
